Aaron Pettinato
Born and raised in the "City of Champions," Aaron Pettinato moved to Arizona in 2001 to attend Arizona State University. A proud and passionate Sun Devil, Mr. Pettinato holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, a Bachelor’s in Communications, a Minor in Sociology, and both a K–8 Teaching Certificate and K–12 Principal Certificate—all from ASU. Forks Up!
With 20 years of experience in the Cave Creek Unified School District, Mr. Pettinato is honored to serve as the principal of Horseshoe Trails Elementary. His journey in education began in the very halls of HTES, where he taught 5th and 6th grade when the school first opened. He later served as Dean of Students at Cactus Shadows High School, a role that helped shape his leadership style and prepared him to lead the Stallion community with energy and heart.
Mr. Pettinato is committed to cultivating a vibrant school culture grounded in academic excitement, meaningful relationships, and community partnership. He believes in fostering an inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, compassion, and connection for every student, every day.
Outside of school, you’ll find Mr. Pettinato reading, hiking, playing pickleball, shooting pool, or night swimming. He cherishes time with his wife and children and brings that same joy and dedication to his role as principal. He’s also a die-hard Steelers fan, movie buff, intense Ping-Pong competitor—and a self-proclaimed terrible golfer.
